Where and when can I find you?+
We’re at 3809 N Croatan Highway in Kitty Hawk, around Milepost 4.25 on the beach side of the bypass. Look for the strip center with the blue roof and our orange crab flag. We’re open daily from noon–9 PM, except Thanksgiving and Christmas Day; Christmas Eve closes at 5 PM.
Do you take reservations?+
Dining is first come, first served. We don’t take reservations or offer call-ahead seating. Your full party must be present before seating.
What wait time should we expect?+
Waits vary, especially in summer. Arriving at opening, during the middle of the day, or at other off-peak times can help. We can’t estimate a wait until your party arrives.
How do we order blue crabs?+
Call 252-449-2483 for current pricing and availability. Reserving a day ahead is recommended. A card number or advance payment is required to hold an order.
Do you offer takeout?+
Yes—the full menu is generally available for takeout. At peak times, capacity may be limited so dine-in service stays on track. Larger summer orders are best scheduled up to 24 hours ahead.
Do you have outdoor seating?+
Picnic tables are available outside for takeout guests, but there is no table service outdoors. Call ahead to confirm takeout availability.
Where do your crabs come from?+
Our owner is an active third-generation commercial fisherman who crabs in the Currituck Sound, the brackish water between the Outer Banks and mainland Currituck.
What is a soft-shell crab?+
A soft-shell crab is a blue crab caught just after shedding its old shell, before its new shell hardens. Availability is seasonal.
How do I keep live hard crabs fresh?+
Keep live crabs cool, damp and able to breathe. Never put them in fresh water, directly on ice, in a sealed container, or belly-up. Do not refrigerate them. If needed, place bagged ice beside—not on—the crab bag.
How should live crabs be handled safely?+
Use tongs and keep hands clear of claws. A crab pinch can cause a serious injury, even through gloves.
Can you cook the crabs for me?+
Yes. Blue crabs are offered live or steamed to order, plain or seasoned, subject to availability.
Can I eat a crab that died before cooking?+
No. Discard any hard crab that dies before cooking. Eating it may make you ill.
How can I contact the restaurant?+
Call 252-449-2483 for orders, prices and availability. For general questions, email Info@IGotYourCrabs.com.
